WACC-LP was the first LP FM station in the state of Connecticut. Licensed to Asnuntuct Community College, the station came on the air in 2002(?) with 100 watts on 107.7. The station utilizes two, all-digital, broadcast studios adjacent to the school's large auditorium, a location which facilitates live broadcasts.
Despite the relatively low power the station has coverage that extends from Windsor to Springfield.
WACC Memory:
John Ramsey: "My sons and I were hired to build this station and we had a blast doing it. Working with Tom and the folks at Asnuntuct was a pleasure and the Fire Department was a godsend offering us use of their tower for the station's antenna.
We built two, identical digital studios. The boards were 20 channel Harris Impulse consoles and the automation was by Enco. This was a very professional set up with custom made furniture, RE-20 microphones, mic processors, etc."
