91.1 MHz, Pomfret, CT.

       "I was a student of Eugene Roure at Pomfret School in the early 70's and, using Gene's contacts at WHUS (Univ of Conn) and at Univ of Bridgeport, cobbled together a carrier current station. The current Pomfret station WBVC was made possible by a grant from the family of one of my classmates, William Cargill, after his untimely death."

       WBVC is a free form high school radio station located in Pomfret, Connecticut licensed to Pomfret School.  The construction permit was issued on July 22, 1999 and the license was issued on May 31, 2001. 

WBVC operates on 91.1 MHz with an effective radiated power of 100 watts. The transmission tower for the station is located on a hill above Pomfret School, and, according to the FCC, it transmits a signal with a 17-mile radius, with the potential for 11,000 listeners.

WBVC broadcasts 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with an automated playlist of music playing hourly, by theme, when live student or community produced programming is not airing.

The station is funded through a gift from Bill and Virginia Cargill, whose initials, BVC, form the stations call letters.
